Lychnis coronaria – Blood Red Rose Campion
An old time favorite, Blood Red Rose Campion, Lychnis, brings shimmering silvery foliage that is topped with rosy red blossoms. A plant that screams “look at me,” its brilliant coloring attracts all eyes. It can be short-lived, but will self seed delightfully for years of blooms.
A prolific bloomer, you can count on enjoying masses of blossoms. Use Blood Red Rose Campion in pots or in the garden. In the garden it makes a showy specimen. It works well mixed with other sun lovers in cottage, cutting and pollinator gardens. Absolutely spectacular in large waves.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun in well draining soil. Add compost or other organic matter when planting. Keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up buds and blooming, and during dry spells.
