Echinops Blue Glow, Globe Thistle
Blue Glow Globe Thistle, Echinops, has been entertaining gardeners for years with its intense blue decorative spheres measuring 1.5″ across. These fun globes appear on tall 48″ stems. Fascinating silvery green leaves are hairy and very deeply cut. Globe Thistle brings a charming element to fresh cut and dried everlasting flower arrangements. Adored by butterflies and other pollinators. It is very easy to grow.
Glove Thistle works well in perennial beds, cut flower gardens, or any where you want a splash of blue in a in a unique form.
Plant in full sun. It prefers to be grown in poor, well-drained soil. Yet, it will tolerate almost any soil and part shade. To encourage rebloom in the fall remove spent flowers. Plants may be propagated by removing the small plantlets surrounding mature clumps and replanting them. This may be done in either spring or fall.
