Helleborus Snow Bells Christmas Rose
Its a real treat for us to be able to offer a true Christmas Rose, Helleborus niger, with Snowbells. Christmas Rose are rarely available. An exceptional variety with large 3″ pure white flowers, its blossoms are naturally side-facing versus the downward-facing Lenten Rose.
One of the earliest perennials to bloom, you might see its blossoms emerging in as early as February. It blooms for six weeks or more. It easily naturalizes in moist, woodland areas and will spread easily if given room. Potted plants can be brought indoors and forced into bloom for winter and holiday decorations.
Christmas Rose is a wonderful additions to the shade garden or naturalized woodland garden. With its dark, thick, evergreen foliage it look fantastic in and out of bloom. Flowers dry on the plants, sometimes persisting for months. It is easy to grow in average soil and is tolerant of drought once established. A long lived perennial, Christmas Rose resists pests, deer and rabbits. A premium shade perennial.
Plant in shade to part shade in well draining soil. Old foliage can be cut back in late winter before new flowers emerge.
