Echinacea – Pretty Parasols Coneflower
Know to be in flower for 5+ months.
Just looking at an image of Pretty Parasols Coneflower, Echinacea, puts a shiver down my spine….can you image seeing it for real in the garden!?! A fabulous two tone, its beautify flowers are pink tipped in white. The huge blossoms first appear in early summer and continue until a hard frost. It has been known to be in flower for over 5 months. And boy is it tough, it has high endurance to wind, cold, heat and sun. Pretty Parasols has strong stems and does not flop. Each stem produces many flowers. Its flowers appear one after another, so new flowers are continually opening. Another great attribute – its blossoms appear at different heights which adds to its fascinating look. Echinacea Pretty Parasols grows 36″ tall and 20″ wide.
Use Pretty Parasols Coneflower in flower beds and patio containers. They bring all the fascinating pollinators, and during late fall to winter the seed heads serve as food for birds.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day, in well-draining soil. Add organic matter to soil when planting. For best flowering, keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up bloom and blooming. Let plants dry out between watering. An occasional squirt of liquid fertilizer will improve flowering. Deadheading spent blossoms will encourage more flowers.
