Thuja – Sugar and Spice Arborvitae
Block unsightly views or noisy neighbors with this evergreen beauty.
‘Sugar and Spice’ Arborvitae, Thuja, brings rich evergreen beauty to the landscape. The leaves have a fine, soft texture with a rich, dark green color. This conifer grows slender and upright, reaching a height of 10′ but only a width of 30″. The fantastic habit makes it ideal for screening patios, slender walkways, or any narrow area. But don’t judge this delicate-looking delight by its ethereal beauty. ‘Sugar and Spice’ Arborvitae may have refined looks, but it’s a powerful, solid, tough plant with a strong root system.
‘Sugar and Spice’ Arborvitae is evergreen, so you can enjoy the beautiful foliage all year round. It’s extremely disease-tolerant, vigorous, and very easy to grow. ‘Sugar and Spice’ is not picky about the type of soil or its location in your garden. You can easily plant it in full sun, partial shade, or shade. Even in shade, it retains its dark color!
‘Sugar and Spice’ Arborvitae makes a gorgeous specimen. It’s also fantastic used as a hedge, in perennial borders, and combined with other plants in a container. ‘Sugar and Spice’ is a hybrid of Thuja plicata, or Western Red Cedar, which is reliably cold hardy, has rich green color all year, and is deer resistant.
Plant in sun to shade. Keep well watered until plants are established and during dry spells.
