Nepeta Walker’s Low, Catmint
Major Award Winner
Walker’s Low Catmint, Nepeta, was named 2007 Perennial Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association and a Plant of Merit by the Missouri Botanical Gardens for its outstanding qualities. Masses of lavender blue flowers are produced in summer on long, arching stems. Grows 2-3’ tall. An excellent low growing plant that is tolerant of considerable drought, Walker’s Low is also rabbit and deer resistant. Flourishes in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Its spicy aromatic foliage is irresistible to cats, which love to nap along side or even on top of this plant. Trim back spent flowers to encourage more blooms. Long lived perennial.
Plant in full sun.
Walker’s Low Catmint Nepeta won the prestigious award the 2019 Perennial of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association. The Perennial Plant Association is a group composed of growers, retailers, landscape designers and contractors, educators, and others that are professionally involved in the herbaceous perennial industry.
