Prunus – Bonfire Dwarf Peach Tree
With so many great qualities Bonfire Dwarf Peach Tree, Prunus, is a must-have for the small-space gardener. In spring enjoy sweet soft pink flowers that are adored by bees. Summer brings gorgeous dark foliage. This dense, dwarf ornamental peach tree displays long, dark red leaves that retain their color throughout the growing season. Starting out red in spring, the leaves age to rich burgundy. The long narrow pointy leaves bring fantastic interest. Grows 5 to 7 feet tall. The disease resistant foliage always looks great.
Ideal for containers, as a specimen, or for small space gardening. Although it does produce edible fruit, the fruit is edible when cooked for pies and cobblers. Introduced by the University of Arkansas.
Plant Peach trees in moist well-drained soils, in full sun.
