Phemeranthus calycinus – Fameflower
In mid summer Fame Flower, Phemeranthus calycinus, brings airy wands of fascinating pink buds and flowers. This Missouri native perennial also features thick, needle-like succulent foliage. Its attractive foliage and soft flowers add wonderful texture to the garden. Its as tough as they come, withstanding drought and heat.
Fame Flower works well in sunny borders, rock gardens, native and butterfly gardens, and in naturalized settings. When not in bloom its adds considerable interest with its fascinating leaves. For a designer look mix it up with any Iris. Also known as Talinum calycinus.
Plant in full sun. It prefers sandy, well drained soil. Good drainage is a must!
