Miscanthus Purpurascens Flame Grass
Flame Grass, Miscanthus Purpurascens, brings 4 seasons of ornamental value. In spring and summer its graceful grey green arching foliage adds architectural interest to the garden. Late summer brings its seeds heads in magenta hues. In fall Flame grass adds a dramatic element to landscapes and gardens when its blades turn fire red and orange. In late fall and winter its seed heads transform into silky white panicles which add considerable interest to the winter landscape.
Excellent mixed in a perennial garden to add contrasting texture to large-leafed plants, used as a specimen, and for screening or as a hedge.
Flame Grass matures into a stately landscape plant 4-6′ tall and 2′ wide. It thrives in hot sun. Deer resistant.
Plant in full sun. Cut back in late winter or very early spring.
