Iberis – First Flush Lavender Candytuft
Spring-fall blooming with outstanding evergreen foliage
We all love Candytuft for its lovely carpet of flowers and evergreen foliage. Now it brings us even more to love with First Flush Lavender Candytuft, Iberis, with its incredibly long blooming pale violet flowers. Its beautiful dark evergreen foliage is covered with clusters of lilac blossoms from spring well into fall. Its super-long flowering season is a vast improvement for the Iberis genus. Its beautiful blossoms bring all kinds of flying creatures, bees, butterflies, and more, along with adding charming elements to fresh-cut arrangements and bouquets. But that’s not all, its gorgeous dark evergreen foliage looks fantastic year round, making it an ideal plant where you want a neat and tidy look.
First Flush Lavender Candytuft creeps along the ground creating dense mounds of foliage, perfect for edging, perennial borders, and mixed beds. It settles well in sunny rock gardens and dry areas. It makes an ideal choice for cascading over walls and containers.
Candytuft, Iberis, is a classic perennial that is much-loved for its blanket of flowers and evergreen foliage. A tough-as-nails plant, deer and bunnies leave it alone, it’s never bothered by disease or pests and stands up to heat, humidity, and drought. They are the perfect choice for growing between stone walls and pathways, and garden edges.
Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun in well-draining soil. Add compost or other organic matter when planting. Incorporating a starter fertilizer will kick plants off to a fast start. Although drought tolerant, water well when plants are setting up buds and blooming.
