Croton Mammy, Codiaeum
Get ready to join the tie-dye revolution with Croton Mammy! Slightly wavy oval shaped leaves come in a mix of colors that will have Wavy Gravy saying “Groovy”. Leaves are mostly green or eggplant with bright splashed of red yellow and orange. This fantastic tropical plant can be used in mixed containers for a showy accent or kept as a colorful houseplant.
Over time Mammy will get about 4′ and 2′ wide, if kept as a houseplant. If used in mixed containers expect to grow about 6-10″ during the season.
Plant in well-draining, good potting soil. Fertilize plants when they are actively growing, usually April through Aug, following fertilizer manufacturer’s directions. Let plants dry out a bit in between waterings. Plants will require less water during fall and winter months.Crotons get their best color with more sunlight. Can be susceptible to sun scorch in the summer, if leaves are burning give some afternoon shade. In the house Crotons prefer southern or western exposures.
