Amsonia ciliata – Fringed Blue Star

Clusters of star-like, soft light blue flowers appear in late spring atop erect, leafy stems with narrow, needle-like green leaves. Its flowers emit a light, sweet perfume. Fringed Blue Star is a Missouri native perennial.
Use Blue Star in native and pollinator gardens. Its ferny foliage adds considerable interest to garden beds. Try mixing it up with a plant with large leaves; the combo will have you amazed at your horticulture skill.
Plant in full sun to light shade. Easy to grow in average to rich soil. Although plants prefer moist soil, they are tolerant of drought. After flowering, plants can be cut back 1/3 to 1/2 to encourage thick, new growth.
