Stokesia – Blue Danube Stoke’s Aster
SKU: n/a.As pretty as the river it was named after, Blue Danube Stoke’s Aster, Stokesia, produces large lavender-blue flowers measuring 4-5″ across. These flowers are wonderful in fresh bouquets. Another outstanding attribute is its attractive, neat mound of foliage, making it a top choice for tidy gardens. It also makes a gorgeous cut flower.
Use Blue Danube Stoke’s Aster in perennial beds, cottage and cutting gardens, or as an edger. Its lilac blossoms make a stunning accent to yellow Coreopsis, pink, or white mums and other late bloomers. An old-fashioned delight, Stokesia has won a top spot on perennial gardeners’ favorite lists for generations. Stokesia is a native North American wildflower. It is easy to grow and heat tolerant. It blooms from midsummer to early fall (if deadheaded). Deer and rabbit-resistant, adored by bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Plant in full sun in average, well-drained soil. Although tolerant of drought, plants prefer moist soil and will perform best with consistent moisture. Remove spent blossoms to encourage more flowering.
