Liatris spicata, Blazing Star
One of the most popular Missouri native plants Blazing Star, Liatris spicata, stuns with puffs of purple that look like fireworks taking off. These masses of tiny purple flowers are major food sources for butterflies and other pollinators.
Having an extremely large root system that can find water deep in the ground, once established Blazing Stars are extremely drought tolerant. This does make them dislike being moved, though.
An easy to grow perennial. Plant in average soil in full sun. Stands up to heat and humidity.
Offered in-house. Subject to availability.
