Itea – Fizzy Mizzy Sweetspire
SKU: n/a.$49.99
Sun, shade, wet, dry, who cares? Fizzy Mizzy Sweetspire grows anywhere and is fragrant to boot!
A fun variety of the native Sweetspire shrub, Fizzy Mizzy, Itea virginica, is adorable and versatile. In the summertime, its flower spikes erupt in great numbers out of its tidy little form, transforming it into the floral version of a fireworks display. Each bloom is filled with pollen and nectar for pollinators and a sweet, light fragrance for gardeners. Thick dark green foliage contrasts beautifully with the white spiky flowers. Thanks to a naturally rounded habit, it needs little in terms of shaping or regular pruning. So it’s the ideal plant for hard to get to spots like hills or branch-filled forest edges. A slowly spreading nature and network of roots make it a great candidate for stabilizing eroding hills or banks. Fizzy Mizzy Sweetspire’s leaves turn brilliant scarlet in fall. It is deer- and rabbit-resistant.
Use Fizzy Mizzy Sweetspire in perennial and garden beds. It’s useful as a low-growing hedge, for foundation landscapes, erosion control, as a specimen, or anywhere you need a low-maintenance plant.
Plant Fizzy Mozzy Sweetspire just about anywhere – growing well in sun and shade and tolerant of most soil conditions, including consistently moist, we call Sweetspire shrubs our “problem solvers” at Sugar Creek. Keep well watered for the first couple of years to ensure healthy root development.
