Hydrangea – Incrediball Storm Proof Smooth Hydrangea
SKU: n/a.$49.99
Stands Up Even Through the Strongest of Storms!
As the name suggests, Incrediball Storm Proof Smooth Hydrangea, Hydrangea arborescens, resolves people’s biggest complaint about the old ‘Annabelle’ variety: it does not flop even after storms. This incredibly stout and sturdy stemmed beauty holds its blooms through heavy summer downpours. Large white balls cover this medium shrub in spring and summer. It’s a robust, vigorous, heavy bloomer with a rounder, denser habit than other smooth hydrangeas. A cultivar of the Missouri native, Storm Proof is thrives in our unpredictable weather and clay soils. Loved by pollinators.
Growing about 3-4′ tall and wide, Storm Proof easily tucks into mixed garden beds or stuns as a mid-sized hedge. Part of the excellent Incrediball line of Hydrangeas that are bred for large pillowy flowers and sturdy stems.
Plant in part shade to full shade. Although tolerant of full sun, due to its large flowers and foliage, shrubs will need considerable water in full sun. Plant in soil that has been amended with compost or other organic matter. Adding a starter fertilizer or giving a light application of an all purpose liquid fertilizer when planting will help it get off to a fast start. We use Starter Plus Bio Tone Organic. Incrediball Blush blooms on new wood and should be cut back in late winter or early spring.
