Helleborus – True Love Lenten Rose
Bring delightful blossoms to your shady areas with True Love Lenten Rose, Helleborus. You can expect multitudes of 3.5″ flowers loaded with layers of rich maroon petals. Part of the Wedding Party Series, a group of Hellebores with notable vigor, rich flower colors, and showy floral displays with large numbers of blossoms per plant.
Lenten Rose is a wonderful addition to the shade garden or naturalized woodland garden. With its dark, thick, evergreen foliage it looks fantastic in and out of bloom. In late winter or early spring, its nodding cup-shaped flowers emerge. Flowers dry on the plants, sometimes persisting for months. It is easy to grow in average soil and is tolerant of drought once established. A long-lived perennial, Lenten Rose resists pests, deer, and rabbits.
Plant in shade to part shade in well-draining soil. Old foliage can be cut back in late winter before new flowers emerge. Poisonous.
