Brunnera Jack Frost, Siberian Bugloss
Mature specimens of Jack Frost Brunnera can transform a ho hum garden into a masterpiece. The large, heart-shaped leaves of Jack Frost are intricately marked with a crackle-like finish. Their heavily frosted overlay allows only the green veining to show through. From mid to late spring, baby blue, forget-me-not type blossoms are held in clusters above the shimmering foliage. The effect is breathtaking.
In the garden they creating a shining contrast against companion plants with darker foliage. Ideal for woodland setting or the shady border. Prefers moist soil but tolerant of many conditions. Also known as Alkanet.
Brunneras are long time favorite perennials that are treasured for their shade tolerance and lovely blooms. They make a fantastic ground cover, though the variegated forms may be slower to spread than the species. Fabulous in containers and their adorable flowers make delightful spring bouquets.
Plant in shade to part shade in well-drained soil. For best results keep watered during dry spells, allowing the plants to dry out between waterings.
