Coreopsis pubescens, Star Tickseed
A delightful, Missouri and Illinois native perennial, Star Tickseed, Coreopsis pubescens, features bright yellow, daisy-like flowers from early summer until fall. Plants will grow 3-4′ tall. Naturalizes easily. Tolerant of dry conditions and poor soil. Also known as Downy Tickseed.
A good choice for butterflies, cut flowers, meadows, areas with poor soil, and natural gardens.
Plant in full sun in average soil. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage more blossoms. If plants become unruly, they can be cut back hard. Divide plants every 2-3 years to maintain vigor.
