Betula – Shiloh Splash River Birch Tree
With extremely showy variegated foliage and tidy pyramidal shape, Shiloh Splash River Birch, Betula, creates a stunning specimen in the garden. Bright green leaves with thick, creamy edges look great all season long. Shaggy, exfoliated bark is gorgeous in winter. It is excellent in the middle of gardens or used as an accent in the yard. Does best with some protection from the hot afternoon sun.
Host plant to the Luna Moth and Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly.
Plant River Birch in moist to wet soils in part shade. Naturally found around rivers, River Birch is tolerant of extremely wet conditions, but is also tolerant of average, well-drained soils and heavy clay.
