Spirea Gold Thread
SKU: n/a.Gold Thread Spirea features gold ferny leaves that add wonderful color and texture to the garden. It holds its color throughout the summer and turns a coral-orange in the fall. It’s a carefree, vigorous grower, and matures at 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. White flowers appear in spring. Also goes by the name Ogon.
Spirea are compact deciduous shrubs that lose their leaves in winter. They are tough, dependable plants that are tolerant of drought and different soil conditions, as long as the soil drains well. Spirea requires very little maintenance.
Designated a Plant of Merit by the Missouri Botanical Gardens for its outstanding landscape qualities and ease of use in the St. Louis area.
Plant in full sun in well-draining soil. Avoid areas with standing water. Although plants tolerate dry conditions, give Spirea deep soakings during dry spells. They benefit from a time-release fertilizer in spring.
