Sisyrinchium angustifolium Lucerne Blue-Eyed Grass
A cutie pie from Lucerne Switzerland, Lucerne Blue-Eyed Grass, Sisyrinchium angustifolium, charms with many 3/4″ vivid blue flowers with bright gold centers from late spring into early summer. Its fine, semi-evergreen, iris-like foliage always looks neat making it ideal for edging. Flowers open in sun and close at night. The flowers are followed by large dangling seed pods. Although technically not a grass, it belongs to the Iris family of perennials, we list it with grasses and perennials due to its grass-like habit and leaf blades.
After blooming, plants can be tidied up by cutting back. Deer resistant.
Plant in sun to part shade in soil that has been amended with compost or other organic matter. Keep well watered when the plant is getting established, when the plant is setting up buds and blooming, and during dry spells.
5″ pot
