Sambucus canadensis Elderberry
Large, highly scented white flower clusters bloom in early summer on the Missouri native shrub Elderberry, Sambucus canadensis. The showy flowers give way to dark purple, almost black berries that birds adore. These edible berries can also be used in baking, jams and liqueurs. This large shrub thrives in many different soil conditions including wet soils.
