Rose – Harlow Carr David Austin Rose
Harlow Carr Rose creates flowers of the most perfect formation – shallow cups of the purest mid pink. They flower very freely from early summer until well into the fall and have a strong, pure Old Rose fragrance. It has an excellent bushy habit with upright, vigorous growth. Maturing into an attractively rounded shrub; it flowers almost to the ground. Named after the Royal Horticultural Society’s garden in Yorkshire, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the society’s formation.
David Austin or English Roses are bred by crossing old garden roses with modern roses to achieve the superb fragrance, delicacy, charm and beauty of the old-style blooms combined with the repeat flowering characteristics and wide color range of modern roses. All David Austin roses have a collective style that reflect one man’s vision. A garden of these outstanding roses is hard to beat for sheer exuberance of flower and fragrance.
David Austin Roses can be used as shrubs, or some make fabulous climbers. They come in a multitude of gorgeous colors and hues: yellow, pink, cream, peach, orange, and red. David Austin Roses make beautiful fragrant bouquets. Use David Austin Roses in cutting, scented, and cottage gardens. They can be used as hedges or as a mesmerizing specimen.
Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost or other organic matter. To get the roots off to a fast start incorporate a starter fertilizer in the soil at planting. Roses are heavy feeders and benefit from fertilizers. Apply fertilizer that has been specifically formulated for roses following manufacturer’s instructions. Roses need consistent water to bloom well.
