Platycodon grandiflorus – Fuji Blue Balloon Flower
Fuji Blue Balloon Flower, Platycodon, a long-time favorite variety, delights us with its fun buds that swell into plump balloon-like orbs and then pop open to reveal star-shaped violet-blue blossoms. The delightful blossoms adorn tall 20″ stems. Long blooming, you can expect to see its beautiful blossoms throughout summer.
Wonderful in the mixed garden, in containers, and as a cut flower. Fuji Blue Balloon Flower brings a joyful presence to cottage and naturalized areas. A long-lived, sun loving perennial. It easily grows in most soils as long as its home is not too wet.
Plant in full sun, in well draining soil. It is one of the last perennials to emerge in spring. Plants have long roots, making them difficult to move.
