Nepeta – Prelude Purple Catmint
SKU: n/a.Purple Prelude Catmint, Nepeta, brings us a completely different type of Catmint. Huge violet-blue flowers appear all the way up its stem. Its flowers are considerably larger than others, producing big displays of blossoms for months in late spring and summer.
An important pollinator plant, it feeds many beneficial insects, yet its minty foliage repels other pests and diseases including mosquitoes. Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Its spicy aromatic foliage is irresistible to cats, which love to nap alongside it. Its deep green foliage makes it an ideal backdrop for other perennials. Good for beds, cottage, pollinator, and perennial gardens. Plants grow 3-4′ wide.
Purple Prelude Catmint is long-lived, easy to care for, and deer and rabbit resistant. It flourishes in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Trim back spent flowers to encourage more blooms.
Plant in full sun to light shade. Adding organic matter when planting will produce the best results. Although drought tolerant, watering during dry spells keeps the plant blooming well.
