Liriodendron tulipifera – Little Volunteer Tulip Tree
SKU: n/a.Enjoy all the beauty of the native Tulip Tree, but in a much smaller package with Little Volunteer, Liriodendron tulipifera. An upright trunk gives way to a tidy pyramid canopy that grows to about 35′ tall. Large, soft green tulip-shaped leaves form a thick canopy, perfect for shading gardens or patios. In spring, showy yellow and orange flowers appear after the leaves come in. In fall, leaves turn gold before falling.
Host plant to the Easter Tiger Swallowtail butterfly.
Plant in full sun to part shade. Tulip Trees easily grow in moist, well-drained soil. Keep well watered during the first few years, when trees are setting up buds and blooming, and during dry spells.
