Echinacea – Prima Ginger Coneflower
Fascinating Flowers
We were quite stunned when we first saw Prima Ginger Coneflower, Echinacea. This beauty has a color we have never seen before in a coneflower – ginger orange. A fascinating plant, the flowers start orange and then age to a pink tone. Prima Ginger Coneflower brings hoards of remarkable blossoms. The entertaining show of flowers begins in early summer with heavy blooming continuing until frost. Each flower lasts for weeks. It’s fantastic in pots, the garden, and as a long-lasting cut flower.
An extremely short variety, Prima Ginger Coneflower only grows 12″ tall. It’s perfect for the front of the border and to edge walkways and gardens. It makes an eye-catching addition to perennial beds, cut flower, cottage and pollinator gardens. It’s an ideal plant to replace annuals for mass plantings.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day, in well-draining soil. Add organic matter to the soil when planting. For best flowering, keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up buds and blooming. Let plants dry out between watering. An occasional squirt of liquid fertilizer will improve flowering. Deadheading spent blossoms will encourage more flowers.
