Echinacea – Moab Sunset Coneflower
Unique shape with intense color
Moab Sunset Coneflower, Echinacea, brings uniquely shaped, brilliant orange flowers all season. Considered a “double” due to its many fascinating petals. Its excellent branching flower stalks bring tons of beautiful flowers. The stunning blossoms first appear in early summer and continue into fall. A shorter variety than most Coneflowers, it tops out at only 12-15″.
The hybridizer noted: This color is beyond intense. We suggest this Echinacea not be planted by roadsides to avoid distracting drivers while they text about this plant. Large, double flowers in great numbers flood this plant with color. The compact, upright habit is perfect for mid garden beds or even containers on a sunny patio. Long lasting flowers have a slow color shift, giving this plant added value throughout the summer. Superb.
Use Moab Sunset Coneflower in flower beds and patio containers. Its small, compact stature makes it an ideal choice for front of the border, or as a great blooming edger. It brings all the fascinating pollinators, and from late fall to winter the seed heads serve as food for birds. Its unique blossoms and strong stems create unforgettable arrangements and bouquets.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day, in well-draining soil. Add organic matter to the soil when planting. For best flowering, keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up bloom and blooming. Let plants dry out between watering. An occasional squirt of liquid fertilizer will improve flowering. Deadheading spent blossoms will encourage more flowers.
