Winecraft Black Smoke Tree, Cotinus, adds stunning color and texture to the yard with little, to no maintenance. Emerging a showy maroon purple, almost perfectly round leaves of Winecraft Black create a large stunning display. As the foliage matures it turns as near black as any shrub we’ve ever seen. When backlit by the sun, leaves glow a brilliant violet. Early summer brings wispy red flowers that become the beautiful, hazy-violet “smoke” that give this plant its name. Rounded habit offers a more compact presentation than conventional smokebush. Fall leaves turn bright red-orange.

Growing 8-10′ tall and wide this small tree or large shrub, depending on how you prune it, is perfect for softening the corner of a house, planted as a hedge, or used as an accent in a mixed garden.
