Coreopsis tripteris – Star Tickseed
SKU: n/a.A stately Missouri native perennial, Tall Tickseed, Coreopsis tripteris, brings bright yellow daisies to the garden midsummer into fall. The flowers appear on slender stems. At home on the prairie, it’s tolerant of drought, humidity and high heat. Tall Tickseed will grow between 2-8′. Its height is dependent upon growing conditions. In optimal growing conditions in can grow quite large, to 8′. Plants grown in dry conditions will be smaller to about 4′. Remove spent flowers to encourage rebloom. Plants reseed easily. To keep plants robust, divide every 2-3 years.
A good choice for butterflies, cut flowers, meadows, areas with poor soil, and natural gardens.
Plant in full sun in average soil. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage more blossoms. If plants become unruly, they can be cut back hard. Divide plants every 2-3 years to maintain vigor.
