2025 Perennial Of The Year – Li’l Bang Coreopsis

Renowned for prolific blooming and disease resistance, the Li’l Bang Series of Coreopsis excels in the sun garden. Li’l Bang Coreopsis brings brilliant hues of yellow, red, orange, and white all season long. Years and years went into the making of these treasures with parentage from 8 different species. These rugged varieties exceed in disease resistance, cold, heat, and drought tolerance. Darrell Probst of Hubbardston, Massachusettes, created these excellent hybrids through his extensive breeding program. He has revolutionized the genus, developing cultivars with brilliant colors and exciting forms.

Li’l Bang Coreopsis makes a fantastic choice for those who want the blooming power and look of an annual but don’t want to replant every year.  They look beautiful in perennial gardens, mass plantings as easy-to-care-for ground covers, or in containers alone or mixed with other plants. Coreopsis are easy to grow, making them a good choice for beginners and seasoned gardeners.

Plant Coreopsis in full sun, at least 6 hours of good sun a day. Although not fussy about soil, they perform best in soil that has been amended with organic matter. Coreopsis are tolerant of drought but will bloom best with consistent moisture. Keep new plants well-watered until they are established.

The Li’l Bang collection consists of five varieties, one each of Li’l Bang Daybreak, Li’l Darling Clementine, Li’l Bang Red Elf, Li’l Bang Starstruck, and Li’l Bang Starlight.
