Experience a wonderful surprise of nature with the fall-blooming Waterlily Colchicum. During the shorter days of autumn, flowers made up of satin petals of lavender pink magically pop out of the ground. Like its cousin Surprise Lily, in spring a mound of strappy foliage emerges. In mid-summer the foliage disappears.

Waterlily Colchicum makes a happy home in between summer blooming perennials, and in natural and woodland settings. Resistant to deer. Plants grow 6″ tall and wide.

Plant in full sun to light shade in soil that has been amended with compost or other organic matter and a handful or so of bulb fertilizer like Bulb Tone, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Plant corms 3” deep and 6” apart in mid-to-late summer for bloom the same year in fall. The best time to divide or move the plant is mid-summer when the plant is dormant. Left alone with some room to expand, the plant will settle in and naturalize, finding its best home on its own.
