A truly remarkable specimen, Flame Thrower Redbud, Cercis, displays show-stopping color-changing foliage. Foliage emerges burgundy-red and turns bright yellow and green as it ages. The stunning color display is persistent throughout the season, often showing four to five different shades on a single branch! Bright pink flowers appear in early spring before the foliage emerges.
This extraordinary tree stunned the judges at the English 2021 Chelsea Flower Show, earning the top prize-the Royal Horticulture Society Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year. Only the best plants in the world win this prestigious award.
Fantastic as a specimen, focal point for a garden, along woodlands, and in lawns. It works well in front of homes where a small, decorative ornamental tree is needed. Matures to 15-20′ tall and 15′ wide.
Plant in full sun to light shade. Keep well watered until established. The trees benefit from occasional fertilizing and deep watering during dry spells.
