With showy spring flowers over-the-top variegated leaves Alley Cat Redbud, Cercis canadensis, creates a showy spectacle in the garden. Green leaves are heavily speckled with bright white markings. While the extreme variegation makes it seem like it belongs in the deep shade, the leaves are actually quite scorch-resistant and can handle full-sun exposure. In spring bright red buds open to lavender flowers before leaves emerge.

Fantastic as a specimen, focal point for a garden, along woodlands, and in lawns. It works well in front of homes where a small, decorative ornamental tree is needed.

Plant in full sun to light shade. Keep well watered until established. The trees benefit from occasional fertilizing and deep watering during dry spells.
