Aster laevis – Smooth Aster
Smooth Aster, Aster (Symphyotrichum) laevis, produces billowing panicles of soft blue flowers in late summer and fall. This Missouri native plant adapts to many different soil conditions and easily thrives in poor, rocky soils.
Usually one of the last plants to bloom, Asters extend the flowering season well into fall. Asters are essential late season food sources for butterflies.
