Acer – Sango Kaku Coral Bark Japanese Maple
A delightful medium-sized tree, Sango Kaku Japanese Maple, Acer palmatum, boasts year round interest. Star-shaped apple-green leaves on reddish pink stems create a striking contrast. As the temperatures warm up bark fades to brown. In fall, leaves turn yellow with striking coral edges. As fall turns to winter bark becomes vibrant coral-red, creating a fire in the winter garden.
Plant in part sun to sun. Prefers some afternoon shade.
