Stachys densiflorus – Dwarf Betony
Here’s a fun plant that’s just like its big cousin Hummelo Betony, Stachys, but Dwarf Betony, Stachys densifolus, is a mini version. With all the great attributes of Betony, including its beautiful green foliage and densely packed spikes of vivid rose-purple flowers in summer, this dwarf version tops out at just 10″ in full bloom. Its appearance is almost identical to Hummelo, but at a smaller scale. This delight is perfect for edging sunny borders and pathways.
Stachys is a staple in landscape design, as its size, habit, beauty, and ease of care are second to none.
Plant in sun to part shade in soil amended with compost or other organic matter.
