Ruellia hymilis – Wild Petunia
SKU: n/a.The pretty Wild Petunia, Ruellia hymilis, decorates the garden with lavender-blue trumpet-shaped flowers from May into October. A Missouri and Illinois native plant, it is a pollinator powerhouse; hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and other delightful guests adore its tubular flowers. It is fast-spreading and easy to grow in any soil, as long as it is well drained. Wild Petunia prefers sun to part shade.
Wild Petunia grows about 1.5′ tall and wide. It makes an excellent fast-spreading ground cover. Use it in rain gardens, wildflower gardens, meadows, rock gardens, perennial gardens, and pollinator gardens. It will self-seed. It is an important host plant for caterpillars of the Common Buckeye Butterfly, and the White Peacock Butterfly.
Plant in full sun to part shade in well draining soil.
