Phlox Fashionably Early Flamingo
Fashionable Early Flamingo Phlox brings months of brilliant color to the garden. Blooming 2-3 weeks earlier than other Phlox, its perfectly formed panicles of light lavender-pink flowers bloom for months starting in late spring and continuing for most of the summer. For a second and third bloom, keep plants deadheaded. We found we get tremendous rebloom when we cut back the plants about halfway after each flush of bloom.
If you love Phlox but have steered away from them due to their finicky behavior, this plant is for you. Each member of the Fashionably Early series has exceptional mildew resistance, thick leathery leaves, and a spreading habit. It works beautifully in cottage gardens, mass plantings, and containers. Its exceptional flowers are outstanding cut and delightfully fragrant. Cut plants back hard, to about 6″ for rebloom.
Plant in full sun to light shade in soil that has been amended with organic matter. Keep well watered, especially when plants are blooming and setting up buds. For best results apply an all-purpose fertilizer following the manufacturer’s instructions.
