Peperomia puteolata – Parallel Peperomia
For an easy houseplant, try Parallel Peperomia, Peperomia puteolata. This trailing houseplant tolerates neglect and still looks great. It first grows compact and upright, making it an excellent choice for smaller areas. Its stems will trail as time passes, making it nice to hang over pots or as a hanging plant. Its beautiful leaves liven up any room.
The plant is an excellent choice for beginning houseplant enthusiasts but is pretty enough to attract all levels. It prefers bright, indirect light. It prefers a humid spot and benefits from sitting on a tray of pebbles and water. Just be sure the plant does not sit in the water. This easy-going plant is very forgiving about being miss-watered. Water your plant every week or two when the soil has dried out.
Pet-safe houseplant, non-toxic to dogs and cats.
Plant in well-draining, good potting soil. Fertilize plants when actively growing, usually April through Aug, following the fertilizer manufacturer’s directions. Let plants dry out a bit in between watering. Plants will require less water during the fall and winter months.
