From April to May enjoy the showy flowers on Spanish Bluebells, Hycainthoides hispanica. 12″ tall stalks with a plethora of lavender-blue flowers bloom in abundance over strappy foliage. Foliage goes dormant in early summer, making this a perfect choice to plant around Balloon Flowers, Hosta, Ferns, Black Eyed Susans, and other late to emerge perennials. This easy-going bulb will grow in full sun to full shade. Deer and rabbit resistant and tolerant of black walnut trees, this bulb will grow just about anywhere besides consistently wet soils. Formally known as Scilla. Long-lived.

Use these bulbs to add spring color at the woodland edge, ground cover under deciduous trees, in rock gardens, woodland gardens, borders, beds, or pots.

Plant bulbs in soil that has been amended with organic matter like Cotton Burr Compost. Plant bulbs 4-6″ deep and 4-6″ apart, about 3-4 a square foot. Plant in full sun to light shade. Part shade will keep the flowers looking better for longer. Keep soil moist to encourage root formation.
