Epimedium – Pretty In Pink Bishop’s Hat
SKU: n/a.With exuberant jester hat blossoms of white, rose, and dark pink, Pretty In Pink Bishop’s Hat, a beautiful selection of Epimedium grandiflorum, is the perfect choice for your spring shade garden. The flowers are held high on wiry stems over dramatic heart-shaped bright green foliage. The leaves take on dramatic bronzing reminiscent of autumn maple leaves. But don’t be fooled by its delicate look—this dynamo is a vigorous variety. It is deer and rabbit-resistant. Also known as Barrenwort.
Bishop’s Hats, Epimendium, are one of the few plants capable of surviving in dry shade. They stand out in shady landscapes with their distinctive flowers and colorful foliage. Although they are fantastic for their durability and critter resistance, they are adored for the long sprays of jester hat-like flowers and weed-smothering attractive foliage.
Growing instructions: Epimedium is a tough plant that will survive in nearly any shady location. It prefers rich, moist woodland soils, but it will adapt to a wide range of conditions. It will even grow under large, thirsty trees. Mulching around the plants will help to keep the weeds away and moisture in the soil. Trim off all of the old foliage in late winter to make room for a fresh flush of leaves and an increase in flower production. Plant in shade to part shade in well-draining soils. Epimedium can be divided in early fall and is rarely troubled by pests or diseases.
