Cornus – Venus Dogwood Tree
SKU: n/a.With gobsmackingly large flower bracts Venus Dogwood, Cornus is sure to attract some serious attention. In spring, white bracts appear, looking like four humungous petals. Large ornamental red fruits that are loved by songbirds appear in the fall. The glossy green foliage has a wonderful red fall color. This vigorous selection from Rutgers University has notable winter hardiness, good drought tolerance, and excellent disease resistance. Multi award-winner.
Plant Dogwood trees in part sun in moist, well-drained soils. Amend soil with compost and add a good starter fertilizer when planting. Keep well watered until established, especially through the heat of the summer. Dogwood trees prefer acid soils, add sulfur or fertilizers specific to acid-loving plants to keep pH low.
