Coreopsis – Lightning Bug Tickseed
Get out the sunglasses, you’ll need them to view this cutie.
Bring brilliant firefly color to your sunny gardens and containers with the adorable Lightning Bug Tickseed, Coreopsis. Its colorful gold and red flowers just keep coming and coming all summer into October. It forms a compact mound of disease-resistant, dark green foliage.
A fantastic plant that can take the place of annuals in gardens and containers. Its great compact foliage makes it ideal for container gardening, rock gardens, and the front of the border. Lightning Bug Tickseed makes a weed-smothering ground cover for small areas and also looks fantastic in large drifts. Fabulous in containers, Lightning Bug’s bright colors bring excitement, creating memorable pots that grab all eyes.
Plant in full sun and well-draining soil. Shear off the top 20% of the plant when most of the blooms are spent to return the plant to full flowering. Fertilize with a balanced garden fertilizer following the manufacturer’s directions. 30 days before the last expected frost, fertilize for the last time of the year.
