Buxus – NewGen Independence Boxwood
SKU: n/a.NewGen Independence Boxwood brings graceful form and great disease resistance. It matures to a round shrub 3-4.5′ tall and wide. Its beautiful deep green foliage looks great even in winter. It prefers shade to part sun. Excellent as a specimen or container plant. Use NewGen Independence Boxwood in low hedges, foundation plantings, edging, or shady knot gardens. Deer resistant. Superior boxwood blight resistance and good boxwood leafminer resistance.
A member of the NewGen series of Boxwood that have been bred for superior disease and pest resistance.
Growing instructions: Plant in shade to part sun. When planting, amend the soil with compost. Plant slightly higher than the soil level of the container and apply 1-2″ of mulch to help retain moisture. Prune if a certain shape is desired or to remove any winter tip burn or other damage. Boxwoods may be pruned after spring frost danger has passed, typically around mid-April in St. Louis. Keep well watered when establishing the plant. Even though it is tolerant of drought, Boxwood benefits from a good soaking during prolonged dry weather. Few disease or pest issues when planted and cared for properly. No spraying is necessary!
