Beaucarnea recurvata – Ponytail Palm
The Ponytail Palm is an exciting easy to grow succulent. That’s right succulent. The large bulbous trunk is used to store water making the water requirements of this dramatic plant very low. Long bouncy foliage looks like it’s having a permanent good hair day. Very slow growing, but can get quite large and heavy over time. While it does prefer lots of sun it is very easy going about light exposure. If in a dark room be sure to bring out in the sun during the summer after temps consistently stay above 60 degrees.
Pet safe houseplants, non-toxic to cats, dogs and other pets.
Plant in well-draining, good potting soil. Fertilize plants occasionally when they are actively growing, usually April through August. Ponytail Palms prefer dry conditions. Be sure sure soils dry out significantly between waterings.
Pet safe.
