Bring exuberant flowering and unique pea-like foliage to your landscape with the striking Blue Bubbly False Indigo, Baptisia. Blue Bubbly produces massive 16″ long flowers in hues of baby blue to lavender. Its vase-like habit is covered with densely packed blossoms in spring. The large, 16″ flower spikes extend the blooming season longer than others. A member of the outstanding DECADENCE DELUX series of Baptisia. All Baptisia have a substantial presence in the garden, but the members of the DECADENCE DELUXE  series are larger than most.

Use in place of a shrub in the landscape or as a centerpiece in the garden. Due to its native Missouri plant heritage, this Baptisia easily grows in the St Louis Missouri area and will thrive with little maintenance. It matures to an incredibly full and bushy plant-a perfect substitution for shrubs if you’re looking for structure in the garden. There are many potential applications in the landscape including meadow plantings, as a backdrop in borders, or as a specimen. Plants are very long-lived once established. Its seed pods add considerable interest to dried flower arrangements.

The roots of the DECADENCE series run deep. What started as a fun botanizing trip in the lower Midwest with a fellow horticulturist blossomed into a complex hybridizing project for breeder Hans Hansen. Hans has made countless crosses with the many native Baptisia species he has collected. These crosses have resulted in an array of seedlings with unique flower colors and plant habits, the best of which are introduced into the DECADENCE Series.

Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day. Due to its long tap root carefully plan where to plant this beauty as plants do not like to be moved. Keep well watered until established, when plants are setting up buds and blooming, and during dry spells.
