Asclepias viridis – Green Milkweed
The fascinating green flowers with purple signals of the Green Milkweed, Asclepias viridis, add subtle beauty to native gardens. Its large, narrow leaves are an essential food source for the Monarch Butterfly caterpillar. This Missouri and Illinois native perennial tolerates most soils except consistently wet. Green Milkweed’s large showy seed pods add beautiful and exotic additions to dried floral arrangements. It is also known as Green Antelopehorn Milkweed.
