Antennaria dioica Rubra – Red Pussytoes
SKU: n/a.Admired in the garden for its fuzzy silvery foliage and fun unique flowers, Red Pussytoes, Antennaria dioica Rubra, grows into a dense 2″ tall mat-forming ground cover that thrives in dry, poor soils. In spring, wine-red flowers that remind people of cats’ paws bloom on 4″ stems.
Pussytoes are ideal for your hot, dry areas with poor, rocky soil. In fact, Pussytoes prefer a tough spot and will not thrive if the soil is too rich. Pussytoes is the host plant for the American Painted Lady butterfly, meaning their caterpillars prefer to eat Pussytoes. US native perennial.
Plant in full sun to part shade. Plant in gritty rocky soil that drains well.
